CHURNCOTE FARM SHOP AND BUTCHERY
Opening hours: Monday & Tuesday 10am-5pm | Wednesday to Saturday 9am-5pm | Sunday 10am-3pm
Sue & David Clarke
Sue and her late husband David first welcomed customers to Churncote Farm Shop & Butchery in 2003, offering the highest quality meat and groceries, sourced from their own farm and other local producers.
The Churncote Farm Shop, a beautifully converted former cowshed, is only five minutes from Shrewsbury town centre.
David passed away unexpectedly in July 2025, but customers continue to be guaranteed fantastic-tasting food thanks to Churncote's continuing focus on freshness, seasonality, and local sourcing, served in relaxed and friendly surroundings.
That commitment extends next door to the Cote Kitchen with a menu that showcases Churncote's own produce as well as fresh, quality ingredients from other local suppliers.

David’s brother, Robert, and his friends Graham Bowen, and Nick and Ruth Vernon, will be cycling the challenging 180-mile-long Marcher Way in memory of David in June. As they ride, they will be raising money for the UK Sepsis Trust.
What started as a ‘good idea’ to mark Robert and Graham’s 60th birthdays, suddenly gained tragic purpose when the Clarke family lost David to Sepsis. Says Robert: “One day [he was] telling a group of school children how good it is to be a farmer, the next fighting for his life in ITU with Sepsis. |
“To say we are shocked is an understatement. Working as we do in the NHS, Graham and I all to often see Sepsis and patients on the verge, early recognition treatment and prevention of overwhelming infection is paramount, time is of the essence to stop the inflammatory cascade and even then they may not be successful.
“We believe raising money and awareness for Sepsis UK as part of our birthday milestone by cycling the Marcher Way an appropriate tribute David; A true Shropshire Lad, a gentle giant to us and sadly missed.” |
You can donate to the cause on Robert’s JustGiving page here.
David’s family would like to thank the team in the shop, Cote and on the farm, as well as our customers, for their support and kindness. For those who wish to leave a message for the family, a book of condolences can be signed in the farm shop.
